This Craftsman home in the Madrona neighborhood, with stunning views of Lake Washington and the Cascades, was built in 1911 and since the last remodel was over 20 years ago, it was due for an update while staying true to the original style. Working within the existing footprint, the home was updated with new finishes and fixtures, cabinetry, and furniture throughout. The entirety of the project included remodeling the kitchen, dining, the main floor powder room, the primary and additional upstairs bathrooms, along with the nursery.

The newly refreshed home has a clean kitchen that boasts new cabinets, tile, and fresh paint. Since most nights the homeowners cook together, an updated and bright kitchen was integral to the design. One of the clients is a skilled woodworker who has made some of the couple’s treasured furniture pieces, including a custom breakfast table and matching open shelving within the kitchen. The dark walnut tone, adding to the overall high contrast feel, is exactly what they envisioned in this space.

Three bathrooms in the home were transformed to feel more calm and serene. First, on the main floor, the powder room was updated with a more romantic feel accompanied with modern upgrades. The walls were painted a softened green paired with a contrasting dark, floral wallpaper, gold light fixture and mirror while the other fixtures are black, blending beautifully with the floral wallpaper. The upstairs primary bathroom has a brightly lit updated feel that elegantly illustrates the striking contrast of the white walls, countertops, and shower tile paired with the sleek black fixtures. The wood cabinetry help add warmth and softens the overall palette. Light over the room from the skylight above. Lastly, the upstairs bathroom's black fixtures and decor pop against the white walls and shower tile. The tiles niches in the shower and by the sink continue the theme with white tile and black grout.
