Tacoma Wine Merchants, a distinguished wine retailer, opened its second location in a vibrant commercial district near Commencement Bay in Tacoma.
The space was designed to create a warm and inviting atmosphere, with a comfy and inviting bar, luxe booth seating, and custom-built shelving to showcase an extensive wine collection. The materials and style blend warm wood elements, metallic accents, rich tones, and subtle art deco touches. The eye-catching metal ceiling panels, displaying vintage charm, were the primary inspiration throughout the design process, ultimately influencing the bar area’s overall aesthetic.
The carefully curated color palette weaves together soothing blues with luxurious gold and rich accents. The tile along the back bar wall, featuring subtle variations of soft blue and a fish scale-like motif, complements the golden embellishments of the ceiling panels. Spherical lights suspended from the dropped ceiling above the bar create an inviting area to pull up a chair and enjoy a guided tasting. The centerpiece of the bar’s backsplash features a wooden, scalloped décor that doubles as a wall-mounted TV cabinet. The concealed screen is revealed during special events like international wine tastings, delivering an engaging customer experience while maintaining a refined atmosphere distinct from a sports bar.
The custom-designed and thoughtfully arranged wine storage integrates seamlessly into the bar’s design, offering a sophisticated backdrop for socializing. A mix of standing tables and comfortable seating areas encourages guests to savor a drink or two in good company. A plush red seating nook, nestled behind shelving, offers an inviting space for customers to relax and unwind.
