Jeff Escamilla

Jeff grew up in the San Francisco area where he was immersed in the local architecture, museums, and overall culture from a young age. While taking a product design class in high school, he stumbled across an unrelated book about architecture. This sparked an interest that lead to receiving his Bachelor of Architecture from California Polytechnic State University. Jeff is passionate about how architecture can create positive lasting impacts for not just the dweller, but for the entire community.

He studied abroad in San Miguel de Allende in Mexico where his studio worked on a community-oriented project focused on the design for a gathering space for the arts, education, and technology innovation center. Throughout this time, Jeff was engaged in learning about the cultural significance of each city and their vernacular architecture. A couple of his favorite buildings from that trip include Casa Gilardi by Luis Barragán, Museo Jumex by David Chipperfield, Kurimanzutto and Biblioteca Vasconcelos by Alberto Kalach. During his time in school, he volunteered with students, acted as a mentor and worked on an affordable housing project with his studio.

Jeff has a wide range of interests that involve enjoying the outdoors and discovering new forms of creativity. What brought him to Seattle was his love for exploring both the city and nature. Specifically, Jeff enjoys hiking, biking, and snowshoeing, but will often finds himself walking through the city to seek out new inspiration. Several years ago, Jeff began pursuing film photography as a hobby, and enjoys the limited number of frames you can capture because it makes you think about the story of the image more deeply.
