Gatewood Home

Originally a 2-bed, 1-bath residence, The Gatewood Home has been dramatically transformed adding a second story and expanding the home's footprint to optimize views and living space. Strategic window placement and extensions in key areas like the kitchen and living room enhance the indoor-outdoor feel, while interior features such as a secret tunnel between children’s rooms and a spa-like primary bath add unique touches to this family-centric home.

Located in West Seattle, this 4-bed, 4-bath residence was scraped to the first floor framing, and then expanded both upward and backwards to the yard. All public spaces feature connections to the exteriors - either to the view at the west or the fantastic back yard to the east.

The main floor was also extended out the back, past the basement wall, to extend the kitchen and add a living room. In the front, the dining room and office were bumped out, creating a very open and flexible floorplan where the entire family could hang out together. A large walk-in coat closet keeps the front area tidy, and a bold powder room sits at the end of a window-lit hall. The home extends over the back deck to create a covered space with built-in ceiling heaters. The large 12’ sliding French doors off the living room create an indoor-outdoor feel.
