Fronting Greenwood Ave, the two new Live Work units provide options for housing and commercial activity on a popular and growing street. At the rear of the lot, townhomes step down the hill, each with their own parking spots and outdoor spaces.
A challenging lot, the site slopes significantly from front to back, forcing the buildings to step down the slope with significant shoring. Additionally, the site is a peat settlement zone, which created additional structural and geotechnical challenges.
Ultimately, this design used these challenges to its advantage, with the changes in grade providing more privacy between the units.
