Treat Cookies

Treat Cookies' new location in Burien, nestled behind a historic brick storefront, has been transformed into a bright and inviting space that blends modern design elements with the area's historic charm. Featuring blush- and cream-colored curves, natural light flooding through restored storefront windows, and playful touches like paper globes hanging from the ceiling, Treat is a unique gathering spot for the community to enjoy freshly baked goods and connect with one another.

Located in the heart of Old Burien, Treat Cookies’ really is a treat for all the senses. The initial space was dark, dated, and lined with wood paneling – a far cry from the bright and inviting space it is today. Our team removed the exterior awning and interior walls, and were surprised to find the original storefront windows mostly intact. With the space suddenly filled with natural light, we were able to heighten the connection between interior and exterior, melding the historic Old Burien façade with a modern, bright, and activated retail space.

The new interior is punctuated by blush- and cream-colored curves from the tiled counter leading gracefully into the space, to the velvet cushions on the generous banquette along the Western wall. A double-arched opening at the rear of the space connects the retail and the kitchen, offering customers a peek at daily cookie creation.

The owners wanted to reuse the existing display case and storage unit, so these were spruced up with fresh coats of paint and topped with a row of arches to integrate them further into the overall aesthetic. A cluster of paper globes dance from the ceiling, illuminating a path through the space, and two light-filled benches along the storefront provide additional seating for visitors to enjoy their milk and cookies.
