MIRIAM HINDEN, AIA

PRINCIPAL, ARCHITECT

Miriam is an architect dedicated to the role design can have in improving lives. Growing up in Massachusetts and California as the daughter of an architect mother, Miriam naturally found her way to the field through her interest in problem solving and her drive to create. After receiving a degree in visual arts from Union College in New York, Miriam settled in Seattle to pursue her Master of Architecture from the University of Washington. She joined the Atelier Drome team in 2015, and has since worked on a range of projects, from historic renovations to multi-family developments.

With an innately analytical mind, Miriam loves the puzzle of working within constraints – even those dictated in dry, technical building code. She is motivated by the reasons behind rules, and enjoys pulling together the many components of a space to make it healthful, equitable, accessible, and enjoyable to experience. Focused on the client’s goals, Miriam is adept at finding the ideal solution for every situation that arises, whether it be early programmatic adjacencies or later construction details. She is an expert at creating responsive spaces that relate to both their natural and human context, and particularly enjoys working on projects with direct community impact, like non-profit offices and small business spaces. Miriam’s passion for improvement extends beyond the office, and she enjoys working on a variety of projects around her 1920s-era home, as well as hiking, running, kayaking, and watercoloring.
