SINGLE-FAMILY RESIDENTIAL

WATERFRONT CONDO

This elegant lakefront condo in Kirkland, the home base for its globetrotting owners, was transformed into a contemporary home with a blend of custom finishes and ample storage. The goal was to craft a tranquil retreat for the owners and an inviting space for family gatherings. Every inch of the cozy 1,269 sf two-bedroom, two-bathroom space was meticulously designed to ensure optimal storage and living comfort.

On entry, the bright hallway features custom niches to display artwork that the homeowners have collected. A custom runner beneath guides visitors into the living room, offering sweeping waterfront views. The prior dark cabinets and floors were replaced with lighter hues and strategically placed rich wood to visually expand and unify the space. Increased storage was integrated throughout. In the living room, removing a fireplace offered space for a grand entertainment center with storage space on all sides, while the corner bar was modernized to maintain visual consistency. The Italian-made couch and lounge chairs were hand-crafted in the US and selected in neutral leather to maintain brightness within the space, while a lush rug adds warmth and reduces noise. A delightful window-side nook, ideal for reading or wine sipping, overlooks the water. The sleek kitchen design facilitates seamless interaction between the cook and dining guests. Open shelving above the sink and beneath the countertop displays signature items and offers easy access to table settings.

The primary and guest bathrooms balance warm and cool tones with crisp white countertops, resulting in a luxurious and functional space. The primary features are porcelain resembling marble and organic three-dimensional tile. Hidden fixtures illuminate the space and highlight storage. Both bedrooms feature full-length wardrobe cabinetry, allowing for clutter-free spaces that maintain elegance and comfort. Cozy lighting complements the bedding selections, with gold pendant lights adding a warm glow to the primary bedroom.

This elegant lakefront condo in Kirkland has been remodeled to provide the owners with a contemporary home featuring custom finishes and ample storage throughout. The owners are world travelers and use the Seattle area as their home base. Creating a space that was both a relaxing retreat for themselves and an inviting space for family dinners was crucial. The two-bedroom, two-bathroom condo is a cozy 1,269 square feet, which meant that every inch of the space was carefully calculated to ensure that maximum efficiency for both storage and comfortable living. Our architecture and interior design teams worked closely throughout the entire design and construction process to ensure every detail was perfected.

As you enter the condo you are welcomed with a brightly polished hallway with custom niches to display artwork that the homeowners have collected. Beneath, a custom sized runner sits in the hallway elegantly guiding the visitor into the living room towards an expansive waterfront view.

Prior to the remodel, the condo was filled with dark cabinets and floors, which made the space feel quite small. The solution was to open up the space through the use of lighter hues mixed with strategically placed rich woods. The new seamless look minimizes visual distraction while offering an increase in storage throughout the entire space.

In the living room, a fireplace was removed to offer additional space while the corner bar remained in its original location but received a significant face lift to maintain the seamless look throughout. The removal of the fireplace offered the prime opportunity to create the grand entertainment with storage space on all sides. Rows of custom cabinetry flow elegantly from one side of the room to the other. The fluid design of the space is emphasized by the detailed variation throughout the cabinetry. The homeowners requested storage that could be utilized for both display and to enclose certain items. In the corner, the bar mixes open and enclosed shelving with glass doors, a style that is mimicked at the built-in desk at the end of the room. The subtle shift across all the shelving is blended exquisitely to add visual interest and points of warmth and comfort where personal touches are displayed.

The two lounge chairs facing the window create a delightful place to relax with a book or enjoy a glass of wine, while overlooking the water just below.

In the kitchen every angle signifies a clean and modern appeal that is ideal for a dinner with the family. The host can cook and still engage with the guests while they sit at the dining room banquette that overlooks the waterfront. There are selective areas for opening shelving - one that is above the sink where often used items like coffee mugs can be conveniently placed. Another is beneath the countertop facing the dining area to showcase a few signature items and allow easy access for table settings.
