DREW SCHARNITZKE
DESIGNER
Drew is a designer who balances a keen interest in the details, with an attentiveness to the larger context. Originally from the Midwest and Bay Area, Drew settled in Phoenix, AZ to pursue his love of coffee as a professional barista, as well as his love of design as an Urban and Environmental Planning major. After graduating from ASU, Drew continued this dualistic focus, drawing lines between his interests that enriched his design approach.
Drew’s ability to “see the big picture and how that impacts small decisions,” is complemented by his passion for people-centered processes as well as his technical prowess. From his work in urban planning, Drew grew to understand the larger context around every architectural project and the ways in which equity and accessibility are strengthened through municipal requirements. Additionally, from his time as a barista, Drew gained insight into the way design decisions impact the users of a space on a daily basis.
Drew holds the belief that design is about “interaction and personal connection,” and he values every opportunity for collaboration and conversation, whether that be with a design team member, contractor, or client. In his time outside of the office, Drew enjoys hiking with his wife and their new baby, baking, cooking, and trying out inventive new cocktail recipes.
