ON THE BOARDS

MULTI-FUNCTIONAL HOME

The client wanted to rework their home to open up the space. Removing the wall that currently divides their family room from the rest of the home provides an opportunity for the open circulation that the family is looking for. This also supports a niche for a family member to work from home and keep an eye on their children.

An open plan is ideal for their daily life and they plan to host short term guests in their living room on a sleeper sofa. Providing privacy for their guest is ideal and the design includes the use of a room divider/shoji screen . The idea is to have a 'room' closed off when they have a guest during rest times. An attractive divider will blend in with the updated built-ins and provide flexibility for their space and comfort for their guests.
