Bringing a bi-coastal restaurant to life in South Lake Union, Bar Harbor conveys the flavors and traditions of Maine seafood for a Seattle palette. The design takes inspiration from New England coastal eateries, using natural wood, hand painted elements and nautical details to recall the characteristics of a Maine lobster shack experience reinterpreted for a contemporary northwest context. The layout of the main space features an open kitchen and full bar, with an open plan that faces into the large communal area of the 400 Fairview market hall.
Bar Harbor also features a satellite space at the south end of the market hall that serves drink and food to the expansive back deck area. The owner personally applied many of the finishes himself such as the painted shingles and bar front as a 'labor of love'.
