Artist Bio

I am a British born artist living in Seattle since 2001.

I consider myself a lifelong artist, and from an early age I surrounded myself with art making. My mother and grandmother were both artists, their skills were often put to use in a more practical and domestic environment, but their approach to life instilled in me creative possibilities in everyday objects and situations.

I gained qualifications in Civil Engineering, but my passion has always been for art making, and engagement in community based arts interactions.

I am a self-taught artist, and follow an intuitive path throughout my art practice.

As a working artist, I also curate art exhibitions for Era Living retirement communities, where I am responsible for producing 15 shows a year. This is busy and rewarding work, and helps round off my experience as an artist.

I am currently represented by The SAM Gallery and Shift Gallery in Seattle.

Artist Statement

I am a process driven artist searching for connections through memory and relatable everyday mundane experiences. I generate work in response to the materials that I use together with the techniques and processes that I have developed. I am interested in texture and surface and playing with non-precious unconventional materials.

My intention with my artmaking is to make beautiful messy imperfections

I surrender to the rules of chance and natural intuition as I make and play.
